Hydrogen Design

RES provides solutions for incorporating hydrogen technology into facilities, including fuel cells, liquid and gaseous storage, and electrolyzers. We work closely with our clients from concept development to detailed design and implementation. Whether you want to integrate hydrogen technology into your existing infrastructure, start a new project from scratch, or need help with existing projects, we are your go-to solution. Our team of engineers designs high-quality solutions for each project. Contact us today to learn how our hydrogen engineering design services can benefit your needs.

Hydrogen Compression

We specialize in gas compressor systems for hydrogen compression, focusing on multistage diaphragm-type compressors. These compressors are highly effective for high-pressure compression, exceeding 14,000 PSIG. They are ideally suited for applications involving gaseous storage or hydrogen fueling. Our team can assist with the design specifications of different hydrogen compressor systems. Furthermore, we provide owner services, including vendor selection, quality reviews, and factory acceptance testing.

Liquid Hydrogen Storage

River Energy Solutions (RES), has the expertise in the safe and cost-effective designs of hydrogen vessels and high-pressure storage. We will work with the client to optimize layouts, storage capacity for both gaseous and liquid, LH2 boil-off management, and storage pressures. We will ensure that the layout complies with all regulations, NFPA 2 and local codes, including setbacks and area classifications.

Hydrogen Vent Stack

When venting hydrogen is necessary, safety must be the top priority in the design of hydrogen systems. Designs must address equipment protection from over pressurization, identify hazardous areas around vent locations, account for hydrogen dispersion and thermal radiation, consider building openings and intakes, and ensure code-compliant vent stack design. RES has proven expertise in vent stack design and hydrogen dispersion analysis, providing robust and reliable systems

Vent Silencer

Dealing with a noisy vent stack can be more than just an inconvenience; it may also conflict with local noise regulations. While tackling these issues may seem overwhelming, our team possesses the expertise to help you navigate the requirements needed to restore peace to your environment. We can assist you in finding effective solutions to minimize the noise. Cryogenic liquids typically experience a one percent boil-off, which must be vented and can generate noise at the discharge vent, potentially disturbing local residents, especially at night. Additionally, it's important to meet OSHA's tolerance levels for personnel safety in nearby work areas, and we have experience with dense stack silencers for both cryogenic gases and compressors.

OSHA PSM

Facilities that maintain an inventory exceeding 10,000 pounds (lb) of hydrogen are required to comply with OSHA's Process Safety Management (PSM) standards as mandated in 29 CFR 1910.119. PSM is an essential and structured program designed to ensure rigorous safety in hazardous chemical processes through a proactive, risk-based approach.

RES can support you in complying with OSHA's PSM:

  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Operating Procedures
  • Mechanical Integrity
  • Management of Change
  • Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
  • Incident Investigation
  • Emergency Planning and Response
  • Ignition Source Control.
